Potential measures to reduce ammonia in agriculture.

The Federal Environment Agency has examined the effects of measures to reduce ammonia in the agriculture sector. The potential of individual measures as well as packages of measures for cattle and pig farming and for the fertilisation of agricultural soils were estimated. For cattle and pig farming, these packages contain selected measures concerning feeding, slurry storage, manure treatment and manure application. Nitrogen fertilisation was analysed as part of a separate package of measures. In a maximum Feasible scenario, selected measures were also linked and modelled for the agriculture sector. In addition, the proposed measures were examined with regard to the calculation model of the Austrian Air Pollutant Inventory.
