Inherited and acquired bleeding disorders in Australia

This thesis explores the Australian experience of inherited and acquired bleeding disorders. Patients with congenital and acquired bleeding disorders have their care managed by individual haemophilia treatment centres, all of whom report complications on the Australian Bleeding Disorders Registry (ABDR). There were several aspects of care of these patients examined including the complications of intravenous treatments of inherited bleeding disorders, rare consequences of failing to treat as well as the treatment of acquired haemophilia A and novel therapies for severe haemophilia and safety around sport. The aim of this thesis was to address unmet needs within the inherited bleeding disorder community and ideally aid clinicians who treat these conditions with local, clinically relevant data and studies.
