Metagenomic raw reads for gut microbiota from resistant starch project

Weight management is key for the prevention and treatment of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The addition of resistant starch (RS) to the diet may offer such a solution as shown in rodent studies. In our study, RS treatment shifts the microbiome structure and drives the abundance changes in specific microbes, among which Bifidobacterium adolescentis and Prevotella copri have the strongest influences on the obesity and insulin sensitivity. Our findings uncover the mechanisms of gut microbiota in mediating RS's anti-obese effect and emphasize the possibility of using a prebiotic approach involving both diet and microbiota to treat obesity.
