In this experiment we examined whole genome response to gamma ray irradiation and lacking of chromatin assembly factor1 (CAF-1). Four-weeks old Arabidopsis plants grown in vitro on MS medium in petri dishes were irradiated with 100Gy of gamma rays at a dose rate of 300Gy/h. Six hours after irradiation samples (upper parts of plants) were frozen in liquid nitrogen and immediately ground for total RNA isolation. RNAs from non-irradiated wild type plants and fas mutants were isolated and were used for microarray analysis. The goal of this study was to explore the response of DNA repair and cell cycle regulation genes to DNA double strand break inducing treatment and delay of chromatin assembly after DNA replication
