Two previous genetic maps in bean had each been generated using a mapping population of recombinant-inbred lines derived from a parent from the Mesoamerican gene pool and a parent from the Andean gene pool. The number of traits that can be placed on each map is limited to those traits that differ between the two parents; different parents from either gene pool would yield maps containing the location of different traits. Creation of a single map displaying the maximum number of traits requires integrating the greatest number of component maps into a single map. The goal of this project was to map microsatellites in a new mapping population and to integrate this new map with two previous maps. The new mapping population is a F9 recombinant inbred population derived from DOR364 x G19833. DOR364 is a variety from the Mesoamerican gene pool. G19833 is a landrace collected in Peru that is from the Andean gene pool.
