The short survey on current questions on climate protection was conducted by the opinion research institute Kantar Public on behalf of the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government. In the survey period from 28.06.2023 to 04.07.2023, the German-speaking population aged 14 and over in private households was asked about climate protection in telephone interviews (CATI). This edition focuses on questions about the Building Energy Act. Respondents were selected using a multi-stage random sample as part of a multi-topic survey (Emnid bus) including landline and mobile phone numbers (dual-frame sample).<br>Concerns about possible consequences of climate change; assessment of current political measures on climate protection (appropriate, go too far or do not go far enough); ownership of residential property (house or condominium); assessment of the new regulation on the installation of heating systems with a 65% share of renewable energies in new buildings from 2024 (appropriate, go too far or do not go far enough); expected impact of this new building energy law on climate protection; probability of various statements on the topic of climate-friendly heating (most homeowners will not be able to afford to install climate-friendly heating systems, the installation of climate-friendly heating systems will increase rents in rental apartments, the supply of climate-friendly heating systems will initially not be sufficient to meet demand, there will be enough tradesmen who can install new heating systems, the federal government will provide sufficient subsidies for the installation of climate-friendly heating systems, there will be enough temporary transitional arrangements for the installation of more climate-friendly heating systems to facilitate the changeover, there will be appropriate exemptions so that not everyone has to install a more climate-friendly heating system); expected level of ongoing heating costs for oil and gas heating systems in ten years´ time compared to heat pumps.
