Restoring the balance in TEC's - the fight against Harrisia cactus

This project aims to improve biodiversity values and health of threatened ecological communities (TEC's) in the Border Rivers region of NSW primarily through the management of Harrisia cactus in northern travelling stock routes (TSR's) and private land. The spread south (from the Queensland border) of Harrisia cactus can be managed through coordinated control (chemical spraying) of the weed, and other on-ground activities including revegetation works, community 'field walks' (for TEC and cultural heritage appreciation) and the development of monitoring sites to gauge success and record changes over time.
