Municipalities concerned by a Technological Risk Prevention Plan (PPRT) in Burgundy-Franche-Comté

Municipalities covered by a Technological Risk Prevention Plan (PPRT) in Burgundy-Franche-Comté Law No. 2003-699 of 30 July 2003 on the prevention of technological and natural risks and damage repair provides for the development of technological risk prevention plans (PPRTs) around high-risk industrial establishments (SEVESO high threshold); this approach was driven following the AZF disaster on 21 September 2001. The objective of the PPRTs is to solve the difficult urban situations inherited from the past and to better frame future urbanisation. The content of the Technological Risk Prevention Plans (PPRTs) in a few words The PPRTs are a tool for controlling urbanisation. They make it possible to act on undesirable coexistences between high-risk sites and their environment, by addressing the difficult situations inherited from the past and limiting future urbanisation. In this way, they can lead to: expropriations and abandonment measures for buildings in too close proximity to hazardous plants; work on buildings to protect occupants; restrictions on future urbanisation around sites, in the form of prohibitions or authorisations with compliance with requirements; where appropriate, measures to protect public infrastructure.
