The data is from a human study where six HSV-positive women wore intravaginal rings delivering the antiviral agent acyclovir. The intravaginal rings were developed by our group. Three women wore them for 1 week; three for 2 weeks. The sequences correspond to the vaginal microflora on the rings at the time they were removed (total 6) compared to samples collected from the vaginal tract at the same timepoint (total 6). There is also one baseline group of sequences for all six women corresponding to samples from the vaginal tract before insertion of the rings (total 6).
