Tidal currents greater than 3 knots in Massachusetts waters derived from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) tidal current tables, 2006

This GIS tidal datalayer contains National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) tidal information for those areas with tidal current speeds greater than 3 knots in Massachusetts waters. The information was obtained from tidal current tables published by NOAA for both reference and subordinate tidal gaging stations located in waters along the Massachusetts coastline. The criteria of 3 knots or greater was used as a minimum standard at which tidal in stream energy conversion devices can operate at based on current technology and proposed design.
