Transcriptome profiles of alternative male reproductive tactics in bluegill sunfish. Lepomis macrochirus

Bluegill sunfish are one of the classic systems for studying alternative reproductive tactics (ARTs) in teleost fishes. In this species there are two distinct life histories, parental and cuckolder, encompassing three male reproductive tactics, parental, satellite, and sneaker. For this study, we used RNAseq to sequence the brain transcriptome of each male tactic during spawning to identify gene categories associated with each tactic and examine potential candidate genes influencing spawning behavior.
