An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in November 2019 at Castle Cary, Somerset. Two trenches were excavated targeting the results of a previous geophysical survey. Two ditches were identified, displaying a close correlation with the geophysical results. Ditch 104 contained post medieval ceramic building material and glass and cut the subsoil horizon, whereas ditch 203 contained no dating evidence, but was sealed by the subsoil.
