Transcriptome analysis of the dimorphic transition from mycelium to yeast in Talaromyces marneffei

Talaromyces marneffei is a thermally dimorphic fungal pathogen that grows in a mycelial form at room temperature and transitions into a pathogenic yeast form at human body temperature. This dimorphic transition from mycelium to yeast is essential for the pathogenicity of T. marneffei. In this study, we performed transcriptomic analyses of the yeast and mycelial phases from three T. marneffei isolates to locate the core biological processes and candidate factors distinguishing the yeast and mycelial phases of T. marneffei.
