Adaptive introgression and reinforcement are key processes in the evolution of species boundaries among phylogenetic relatives. This study investigated their impact on the adaptation and colonization of two island maples, Acer morrisonense (Am) and A. caudatifolium (Ac), in Taiwan, where their overlapping ranges allow for a unique examination of species integrity amid gene flow.
