Sputum Microbiota Diversity Profile Analysis

From August 2023 to January 2024, this study collected a total of 60 sputum samples from patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosainfections at a tertiary hospital in Haikou, China. Based on whether the infecting strain was of the mucoid phenotype, the patients were divided into two groups: a mucoid P. aeruginosagroup (20 cases) and a non-mucoid P. aeruginosagroup (40 cases). This study aims to compare the diversity of the sputum microbial communities between the two groups to investigate the impact of mucoid P. aeruginosainfection on the respiratory microbiome and its potential clinical implications.
