This study investigates the effects of biochar and magnetite (Fe3O4) supplementation on microbial community dynamics during mixed-culture chain elongation fermentation. Ethanol and acetate were used as substrates to promote medium-chain fatty acid production. Samples were collected at multiple time points and subjected to 16S rRNA gene sequencing to assess community composition and succession under different additive conditions. The dataset provides insights into microbial interactions and the role of conductive and sorptive materials in enhancing chain elongation processes.
