Centropages typicus (Copepoda, Calanoida) egg production, egg hatching and defecation data series (1995-2015) from the LTER-MC site (LTER_EU_IT_061, Gulf of Naples, Mediterranean Sea)

Adult females of Centropages typicus (Copepoda, Calanoida) were sorted from live zooplankton samples collected almost weekly from February 1995 to December 2015 and incubated in 50-­μm filtered surface seawater at 20°C on a 12:12 h dark:light cycle. After 24h, eggs and faecal pellets produced by the females were counted under an inverted microscope. After incubation for additional 48h at the same condition as before, the egg hatching (%) was estimated with respect to the number of eggs produced.
