Through 13 in-depth interviews with executives from companies primarily engaged in the oil and gas industry, this study examines the interaction between industry and research and educational institutions. This project is studying various models for research- and educational institutions' role in an innovation-driven regional economic development. The purpose is to study the diversity of roles and models discussed in a broad regional context. The focus is on relationships and effects of the relations between the industry and research and educational institutions in the region. We will document the roles of these departments have as innovators, entrepreneurs, meeting venues etc. In relation to the innovation-driven regional development.
