Asbestos

The report “Asbestos — Materials for Waste Management” is a background paper for the Austrian Federal Waste Management Plan. This material tape provides an overview of • the asbestos waste streams in Austria, • the properties of asbestos and its harmfulness, • the presence of asbestos in building materials, household goods and other products, • the legal provisions and instructions for the health and environmental protection of goods containing asbestos, • the legal provisions and instructions for the treatment and disposal of asbestos waste. The report focuses on the presentation of the instructions for action a) on the rehabilitation of buildings with building materials containing asbestos, b) on the handling of, and on the disposal of waste containing asbestos.
