Macroeconomic Shocks and Renegotiation Incidence in Transport PPP Concessions: An Event-History Concession-Year Panel Dataset (1995-2023)

This dataset supports an event-history study of macroeconomic shocks and renegotiation incidence in transport public-private partnership (PPP) concessions, with institutional PPP experience examined as a moderating condition. The workbook contains a concession-year panel covering approximately 1,400 transport concessions (roads, ports, railways, and airports) observed from 1995 to 2023, yielding 15,848 concession-year observations compiled chronologically on a single data sheet. Variables include renegotiation event indicators, macroeconomic shock indicators (recession, currency depreciation, and inflation shocks), institutional PPP experience measures, concession characteristics (sector, contract age, concession duration, investment size), and country-level controls. A supplementary sheet provides the full data dictionary and the underlying data sources drawn from regulator archives, audit institution records, and international PPP and macroeconomic databases.
