Retracting areas are the areas where groundwater reaches the pump wells of the water company within 1000 years. The province has not drawn up a special policy for these areas. The province and its partners aim to protect groundwater as a source of drinking water supply. The update plan was adopted by the Provincial States on 19 December 2018.
