The epidermis of Red Zaosu pear fruit was changed according to colour, defining as red stripes the areas that showed red colour after fruit set and kept the red colour as the fruit developed, and as gradual stripes the areas that showed red colour after fruit set but gradually changed from red to yellow or yellowish-green as the fruit matured. Therefore, in this study, whole genome DNA methylation sequencing was carried out using the gradual and red stripes of Red Zaosu at the time when the epidermal colour of the fruit began to change to the time when it was obvious (i.e., 65, 85, and 105 days after anthesis). To explore whether there is an effect of methylation on the regulation of colour change in Red Zaosu and to provide data for the epigenetic modification on the regulation of floridoside, i.e., the differential regulation of fruit stripe.
