Serotonin plus spiperone induce ovarian maturation, spawning and potential release of ovarian maturation inducing pheromones in the Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei (Penaeidae)

This work was performed to obtain a degree in Management of Marine and Freshwater Resources. It was held in the Marine Biology Station of the Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica in the Laboratory of Reproductive Physiology of Crustaceans.

These documents contain data of the ovarian maturation index from white-leg shrimp females, Litopenaeus vannamei exposed to two ovarian maduration inducction techniques: the eyestalk ablation and the injection of serotonin plus spiperone at two different concentrations. Three experimental tanks with two different groups of females (treated and control) were needed for this investigation. A database with the number of mated females per tank and per treatment and a forth complete raw database with the ovarian maturation stage of each experimental female (“nivel_maduracion_L_van_comp_v2.csv”) are also attached.

The data visualization was performed with the integrated development environment (IDE) Rstudio 4.1.0 version. The scripts for visualizing the weekly and total average with the standard deviation of the ovarian maturation rate according to the tank and the treatment applied are added. A script for plotting the number of mated females divided by the presence or absence of spawning is also included.
