Genomic analysis of Plasmodium vivax field isolates circulating in sub-Saharan Africa. VIPERS

Here, we investigated the global genetic structure and diversity of sub-Saharan African P. vivax populations in relation to the global distribution of Duffy-negativity, searching for molecular signatures of adaptation to Duffy-negative hosts. In addition to 204 published sequences of P. vivax field isolates from Africa, Southeast Asia, the Pacific Coral Triangle, and South America, we provided whole-genome sequences of 133 P. vivax field isolates from 10 sub-Saharan African countries.
