Mycobacterium terrae complex clinical isolates

This project includes WGS of two epidemiologically linked M. terrae group non-tuberculosis mycobacteria that caused cases of tenosynovitis following hurricane relief efforts. Sequencing revealed that two unique species, M. arupense and M. heraklionense, caused the infections in the respective individuals. These efforts demonstrate the usage of WGS for speciation with increased resolution and reveal a cluster of environmentally acquired NTM infections that would normally be unlinked due to their unique identities.
