资源简介:
Dataset and codes for the discrete choice experiment revealing strong preference for locally produced food compared to imports in urban DRC where consumers are willing to pay 28% more for food that originates from within the country. Despite this, DRC spends 1.4 billion of USD on food imports yearly while only 10% if its arable land is exploited. This study is an empirical investigation of urban consumers' preference and measures the willingness to pay for local products. Rural farmers can benefit from the growing urban food demand boosted by intense demographic shifts. However, local value chains must be build for the production and transformation of local products in order to be suitable to urban demand and to effectively compete with imports.
