**Introduction**

Stedin is a gridoperator that is active in Zuid-Holland, Utrecht and Zeeland. Stedin provides data on energy consumption, the location and characteristics of cables and pipelines. This data is shared in an anonymized form and cannot be traced back to individuals or specific connections.

**Grid data**

Stedin's grid data includes precise point coordinates for components such as transformer stations. Although the exact type of these component aren't displayed, one can infer this from the voltage levels of the stations and their adjacent connections. The coordinates of the last section of the connections are not included in the dataset. Voltage levels are categorized as followed:

- **High Voltage (HS):** Equal to or greater than 50 kV, this category includes major transmission lines critical for long-distance power transport.
- **Medium Voltage (MS):** Ranging between 400 volts and 50 kV, these connections serve as intermediaries, balancing the load between high and low voltage networks.
- **MS/LS Transition Point:** This marks the transition from medium to low voltage.
- **Low Voltage (LS):** Equal to or less than 400 volts, this category encompasses connections that directly supply electricity to homes and businesses.

**Usage data**

The dataset includes aggregated consumption data for all small consumer connections (KV) within the service area of the network operator. To ensure privacy, data is aggregated so that each row represents a minimum of ten connections, potentially merging multiple postal codes.The dataset provides valuable insights into consumption patterns and the distribution of small consumer connections, facilitating analysis and planning for energy management and infrastructure development.Each row contains the following elements:

- **NETBEHEERDER:** EAN code of the regional network operator.
- **NETGEBIED:** Description of the closed purchase area for a connection.
- **STRAATNAAM:** Street name associated with POSTCODE_VAN.
- **POSTCODE_VAN:** Starting postal code (format: 4 digits, 2 letters, no space).
- **POSTCODE_TOT:** End postal code (same format), merged for privacy if fewer than 10 connections.
- **WOONPLAATS:** City name associated with POSTCODE_VAN.
- **LANDCODE:** "NL" (Netherlands ISO code 3166 alpha-2).
- **PRODUCTSOORT:** Energy type ("ELK" for electricity, "GAS" for gas).
- **VERBRUIKSSEGMENT:** Small consumer segment (electricity connections ≤ 3x80 amps, gas connections ≤ G25).
- **AANSLUITINGEN_AANTAL:** Number of connections in the postal code area for the specified energy type.
- **LEVERINGSRICHTING_PERC:** Percentage of connections with net energy or gas consumption, adjusted for energy generation (e.g., solar panels).
- **FYSIEKE_STATUS_PERC:** Percentage of active connections; others may be under construction, inactive, or demolished.
- **SOORT_AANSLUITING_PERC:** Percentage of the most common connection type based on capacity.
- **SOORT_AANSLUITING:** Name of the most common connection type.
- **SJA_GEMIDDELD:** Average standard annual uptake (SJA) in kWh for electricity or m³ for gas.
- **SJA_LAAG_TARIEF_PERC:** Percentage of connections with dual tariffs.
- **SLIMME_METER_PERC:** Percentage of smart meters across all generations.
