吕宋岛（本土部分）位于菲律宾群岛的北部，是菲律宾面积最大、人口最多、经济最发达的岛屿，是菲律宾首都马尼拉的所在地。基于Google Earth遥感影像提取的吕宋岛数据显示：吕宋岛位于12°32’N～18°40’N，119°42’E～124°12’E之间，全岛海岸线长4955.53千米，岛屿面积104，948.73平方千米。吕宋岛位于西太平洋，东接菲律宾海，南临锡布延海，西濒南海，北隔吕宋海峡与中国台湾相望。吕宋岛大部分在马尼拉之北，大致成长方形，呈南-北走向，但马尼拉之南则有两半岛—八打雁半岛和比科尔半岛分别向南和东南方向延伸。岛内地形地貌类型丰富多样，有火山、平原、山地、丘陵等。地势为北高南低，2/3以上为山地、丘陵，山脉南北纵列。吕宋岛属季风型热带雨林气候，气候特点是温度高、降雨多、湿度大、多台风。岛内河流均较短小，最大河流是卡加延河。此外还有阿布拉河、阿格诺河、邦板牙河和比科尔河。境内湖泊也有很多，但大多数面积较小，比较有名的有火山口湖—塔阿尔湖以及全国面积最大的湖泊—内湖。

Luzon Island (mainland portion) is situated in the northern part of the Philippine Archipelago. It is the largest island in the Philippines in terms of area, population and economic development, and is the location of Manila, the capital of the Philippines. Data of Luzon Island extracted from Google Earth remote sensing imagery shows that the island lies between 12°32′N and 18°40′N, and 119°42′E and 124°12′E, with a total coastline of 4955.53 kilometers and an island area of 104,948.73 square kilometers. Luzon Island is located in the western Pacific Ocean, bordering the Philippine Sea to the east, the Sibuyan Sea to the south, and the South China Sea to the west, and faces Taiwan across the Luzon Strait to the north. Most of Luzon Island is north of Manila, roughly rectangular in shape and oriented north-south. However, two peninsulas extend southward and southeastward respectively south of Manila: the Batangas Peninsula and the Bicol Peninsula. The island has rich and diverse topography and landforms, including volcanoes, plains, mountains and hills. The terrain is higher in the north and lower in the south, with over two-thirds of the area covered by mountains and hills, and north-south trending mountain ranges. Luzon Island has a monsoon tropical rainforest climate, characterized by high temperatures, abundant rainfall, high humidity and frequent typhoons. All rivers on the island are relatively short, with the Cagayan River being the largest. Other major rivers include the Abra River, Agno River, Pampanga River and Bicol River. There are also numerous lakes on the island, most of which are small in size. The well-known ones include Taal Lake, a caldera lake, and Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the Philippines.
