Personalized microbiota screening for optimizing >> volatile fatty acid production

The goal of this study is to establish a practical framework for precision nutrition by identifying how individual gut microbiota functionally respond to different dietary fibers. Because inter-individual variability in microbial metabolism limits the effectiveness of uniform dietary recommendations, this study aims to shift microbiome-informed nutrition from taxonomic description toward functional personalization. By developing and validating a microbiota-based screening platform that predicts optimal fiber types from ex vivo fermentation profiles, this work demonstrates the feasibility of matching dietary substrates to individual metabolic capacity. The findings are relevant for advancing personalized prebiotic strategies that enhance beneficial microbial metabolites without disrupting overall gut ecosystem stability.
