Study evaluated the gut microbiome through 16S-rRNA sequencing of mass-reared Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) originating from Waimanalo, HI, USA. Independent cohorts were sequenced as a part of this effort to determine if different points impacted gut microbiome. Treatments included male flies sterilized via gamma irradiation and parallel controls.
