Groupings of Secretariats of Justice of the Peace

Royal Decree 257/1993, of 19 February, regulates the Groups of Secretariats of Courts of Peace, provided for in Article 50 of Law 38/1998 on Demarcation and Judicial Plant. The Royal Decree determines that in municipalities with neighbouring territorial constituencies and belonging to the same judicial party, Groups of Secretariats can be formed, with headquarters in the municipality with the largest legal population of the groups. The Groups concentrate the activity of the Courts of Peace that integrate them, especially in relation to the tasks of the Civil Registry, and their main peculiarity is that they are staffed at the service of the Administration of Justice.
