Abundance of Protists measured from the water column beneath two sea-ice floes in the Weddell Sea during the PICCOLO research cruise SD035 in January-March 2024

This dataset contains depth profiles of the size and abundance (cells/ml) of protist plankton in the 10-100 µm size range measured using FlowCam on research cruise SD035 PICCOLO. Discrete seawater samples were collected using Niskin bottles and a pump (for the interface) from below floes 8 and 9 in the Weddell Sea during two days of sampling in February 2024 during the PICCOLO cruise. Cell abundance and size metrics were measured from analysis of Lugol's fixed samples by scientists at Plymouth Marine Laboratory using FlowCam.
