The dataset is Argo grid data provided by Roemmich and Gilson (2009, RG Argo). The RG Argo dataset uses weighted least squares to fit Argo profile observations from 2004 to 2020, generating monthly mean temperature and salinity fields (Roemmich and Gilson, 2009). Above 170 dbar, the horizontal resolution is 1° × 1°, with a vertical resolution of approximately O(10 m); as it extends downward to 1975 dbar, the vertical resolution becomes coarser.
