Grocery spend as a share of retail in India 2016-2025

Grocery expenditure accounted for more than 66 percent of India's retail sector in 2019. This was an increase compared to previous years due to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic and an overall reduction in spending during the lockdown months, reducing expenses to essentials. This spending was estimated to decrease by 2025, falling to about 65 percent.
