Eukaryotic communities across the Pacific Ocean. Eukaryotic Pacific

Samples were collected at 34 stations (~370km intervals) along a ~ 15,400 km Pacific Ocean transect in 2003. Surface water samples (1-2m) were collected before sunrise via bucket casting or Go-Flo bottles. Continuous measurements of surface salinity and temperature along the transect were collected by a SeaBird SBE21 underway CTD. 20L samples were filtered onto 0.22µM Sterivex® filters and continuously stored at -80°C until further processing where eukaryote specific primers were used to amplify the V3–V4 region.
