Inspire — Meteorological observation data

DMI conducts a large number of point measurements at its measuring stations in Denmark and Greenland. The measurements are an automatic process where wind, precipitation, temperature, and water level are measured, and data are transmitted to DMI. Observation data are so-called raw data, which means that they are not quality controlled or otherwise processed. Thus, incorrect measurements may occur, which is typically due to the fact that measuring instruments have been worn or destroyed by wind and weather, in rare cases have been exposed to vandalism. DMI continuously works with quality assurance and maintenance of its measuring instruments in order to meet the recommendations of the WMO. Attention should therefore be paid to the risk of incorrect measurements when using DMI’s meteorological observation data. Meteorological observations are reported in UTC time and the measurements follow the recommendations of the United Nations Organisation for Meteorology, the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the International Oceanographic Commission (IOC — UNESCO).
