资源简介:
This article examines the role of quroqchilik (traditional patchwork quilting) in the handicraft practices of women in the Jizzakh oasis of Uzbekistan. The study explores its historical development, cultural symbolism, and socio-economic significance from an ethnographic perspective. Special attention is given to the master-apprentice (usta-shogird) tradition as a key mechanism for transmitting knowledge, skills, and cultural values across generations. The research is based on qualitative methods, including field observations, semi-structured interviews, oral histories, and analysis of archival and scholarly sources. The findings reveal that quroqchilik serves not only as a form of artistic expression but also as an essential element of family rituals, dowry preparation, and domestic decoration. Furthermore, the craft contributes to women's empowerment, preservation of national identity, and the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. In the context of globalization, quroqchilik continues to evolve while maintaining its authenticity and ethnographic significance. The study highlights the importance of preserving and promoting traditional handicrafts as a vital component of Uzbekistan’s cultural legacy.
