Remarkable trees

Location of remarkable trees located in the Hauts-de-Seine territory (excluding private properties) * * * * The Department identifies remarkable trees on its territory with the main objectives of: * to have a comprehensive census of remarkable trees in the territory * to enhance this wooded heritage * to raise awareness and communicate with the general public * locate trees precisely to better protect them * to carry out analyses on their environment and their development The Department manages outstanding trees located on the departmental estate, especially in departmental parks and gardens. Six criteria were taken into account to define the remarkable character of the subjects: * its dimensions: height, width of line and circumference * his age: subject approaching or exceeding the century * its botanical rarity: topic of exotic origin... * its historical character: witness of an illustrious character or a landmark event * its picturesque character: original ramure, leaning ports... * its landscape impact: location of the tree at the level of the neighborhood when it has a strong impact. Started in 1995, on the occasion of the realisation of the departmental green cadastre, the inventory of remarkable trees led to the creation of a first dataset in 2004, updated in 2014-2015 by a field campaign. **Specific comments** A field campaign to update outstanding trees in the public domain was conducted in 2014-15. The geographical position of certain referenced trees may be further refined and constitutes a parameter to be taken into account when using the data in a context where the location at 1 m precision is important, the location having been carried out on an aerial cartographic background and not subject to precise survey of surveyors.
