Prevention of Armed Conflict, 2012

The theoretical area of armed conflict prevention has not yet adequately addressed how international organisations should approach conflict prevention in a particular conflict environment. (what approaches, strategies and means to use) and how this type of action by international organisations perceives the local population. The survey partially fills this gap; it focuses on the role of four international organisations (UN, OSCE, EU and NATO) in Kosovo between 1999 and 2008. The research methodology was based on the interplay between qualitative and quantitative analysis: analysis of primary and secondary sources, historical analysis, field interviewing and interviewing. 123 surveys and 33 semi-structured interviews were conducted. Only the data collected by the survey are available in the ADP.
