Demand for industrial production of biosurfactant is steadily increasing because of its effectiveness, economic concerns and environmental compatibility. Because of apparent advantages of biosurfactants over chemical surfactants, it is quite luring to produce them in the large scale for industrial use. The demand for surfactants in the personal care industry is expected to raise its production in coming years. India has high number of food, agricultural and personal care industries which are expected to augment the demand for biosurfactant over the next six years. However, high production cost and low yield of biosurfactant affect their wide spread applications.We have tried to isolate the biosurfactant producing bacteria from automobile workshop soil. In order to engineer the bacteria , it is important to know the metabolic pathway related to biosurfactant production. Therefore, whole genome project was undertaken to accomplish the goal.
