Comparative transcriptomics of the garden dormouse hypothalamus during early torpor, late torpor and interbout arousal of hibernation Garden dormice (Eliomys quercinus, Gliridae) hibernated under constant darkness without food and water at 5 °C. Hypothalamic samples were dissected during early torpor (ET, one or two days torpid, n = 4, Tb = 5 °C), late torpor (LT, nine or ten days torpid, n = 3, Tb = 5 °C), or interbout arousal (IBA, normal metabolism for two of about four hours, n = 4, Tb = 37 °C).
