Probiotic Lysinibacillus strains isolated from gut tract of triploid cyprinid fish (TCF)

Lysinibacillus strain is a novel spore-forming bacterium with the strong resistance against ambient stressors. However, its probiotic function is largely unclear. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate probiotic features of Lysinibacillus isolates from gut tract of TCF. Probiotic isolates displayed the biofilm-forming activity (BFA), high hydrophobicity and aggregating activity with fish pathogens. In addition, their supernatants could dramatically reduce BFA and growth activity of fish pathogens, along with high decomposing activity to nutritional macromolecules. These results indicated that Lysinibacillus strains possessing probiotic features can pose a protective role in health of farmed fish.
