Bottom sediments (formation), overview

The data set shows bottom sediments in the top 1-2 m of the seabed, classified by soil type. Soil as a property describes the method of formation of the loose mass. The data covers parts of the Norwegian continental shelf in the Norwegian Sea, the North Sea and Skagerrak. The data basis for this topic is the content of quaternary geological maps (loose-mass maps) that are available analogously, and/or digital data from modern mapping. The data is digitised in terms of presentation on a scale =< 1:1,000,000 (view map).
