These are letters received from the Colonial Secretary concerning payment of witnesses and jurors at Supreme Court sittings, preparation of annual estimates of the Judicial Department (for transmission to England), requesting details of wills recorded in the Supreme Court Office, requiring statistical returns to be supplied (eg. statistics of persons convicted in the Supreme Court Criminal Jurisdiction, the number of cases tried by special jurors, returns of effects of intestates - administered by the Registrar as Curator of Intestate Estates), transmitting deeds of grant for enrolment, and notifying the Registrar of his appointment as magistrate of the Court of General and Quarter Sessions (for the hearing of complaints against convicts in Government service).The majority of letters received are notifications of appointments, resignations, dismissals and salary alterations of officers of the Supreme Court, and routine correspondence concerning the approval of requisitions submitted by the Registrar.
