Visual core descriptions and smear slide results from the Terrebonne Basin, Walker Ridge Block 313, Site H, Expedition UT-GOM2-2

This dataset contains visual core descriptions and smear slide results. See Expedition UT-GOM2-2 Methods: Lithostratigraphy (Flemings et al., 2025a, https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.13971228).

Section depths can be found in the Curation dataset (http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14926309). Download the file UT-GOM2-2 CORE LOG depths – sortable.xlsx, see tab “Section-piece log”, core processing code “Conv.” for all conventional and conventionalized core, “QD” for quantitatively degassed pressure core, and “CRYO” for cryogenically frozen and depressurized pressure core sections. All these sections were described, and the working half was sampled. Photos of cores after sampling the working halves can be found in the core image dataset (http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14261688)

Summarized final core descriptions, including smear slide sediment names, were compiled using the software Strater. These Strater plots can be found in Appendix D, of Expedition UT-GOM2-2 Site H (Flemings et al., 2025b, https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.13971276).
