The Multilingual Grade School Math Benchmark (MGSM) is a dataset of 250 grade-school math problems from GSM8K, each translated by human annotators into 10 languages. The dataset is designed to support the task of question answering on basic mathematical problems that require multi-step reasoning. It includes both training and test sets, with the training set containing 8 few-shot exemplars and the test set containing the 250 translated problems. Each instance consists of a question string, an answer string with chain-of-thought steps, the numeric solution, and the equation solution. The languages supported are English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Swahili, Bengali, Catalan, Galician, and Basque.
