Nitrogen and phosphorus loads to the sea under the High Ambition Scenario 2015-2054 (HAS-DB) - (v. apr.2024)

This spatial dataset contains annual nutrient loads (Total Nitrogen and Total Phosphorus) for the High Ambitious Scenario for the period 2015-2054. These estimates were calculated at the outlets of European river basins using the GREEN model (version from April 2024, as described by Grizzetti et al. 2025).

Measures affecting anthropogenic nutrient inputs are the same as in the DB scenario, but nutrient load at the river basins outlet is calculated assuming a theoretical concentration of 2.5 mg N/l for TN and 0.1 mg P/l for TP when the modelled concentration in the DB scenario exceeds these threshold concentrations. Otherwise, the concentrations from the DB scenario are retained. See Grizzetti et al. (2025) for details.

The river basin hydrological data model is based on the Catchment Characterisation and Modelling approach (Vogt et al. 2007; https://data.jrc.ec.europa.eu/dataset/fe1878e8-7541-4c66-8453-afdae7469221).
