Diversity of domestic and imported assemblages of Giardia in Norway and multi-locus sequence typing of domestic assemblage A isolates

The dataset is linked to the article accepted for publication in the International Journal for Parasitology (accepted on 26 August 2025 and published online on 1 September 2025).

This study represents the first Giardia subtyping study in Norway, showing that sub-assemblage AII was predominant in domestic cases, while sub-assemblage BIV was common in imported cases. We also identified high genetic diversity among domestic assemblage A isolates, including five novel MLST variants.

The dataset contains the clinical data (for confidentiality, no patient identities are disclosed in this dataset) and all corresponding sequences in FASTA format. Sequence analyses were performed using Geneious Prime® (version 2025.0.3).
