Youth Survey - 1975, with panel follow-up in 1981

Statistics Norway have carried out five youth surveys on behalf of Aetat - The directorate of labour and the Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation. The surveys were conducted in 1975, 1980, 1981, 1985 and 1990. The surveys intend to provide information regarding the main features of the school system and the labour market, experiences with the labour market and the education system, and in particular, the transition from one system to the other. The last problem is more visible throughout the 1980s. Special emphasis has been put on mapping the sitution of youths that neither went to school or work. The first two surveys of 1975 and 1980 looked at youths aged up to 19 years, but from 1985 this was expanded to up to 24 years. The last youth survey of this kind was conducted in 1990.

The sample for the youth survey in 1975 was followed up in 1981, those who in 1975 were aged 17-19 years, were then 23-25 years old. NSDs version of the data set only includes the panel data, i.e. data for respondents who participated both in 1975 and 1981.
