Microecological data related to oral minocycline treatment of rosacea

The effect of oral minocycline for rosacea on the skin microbiota was the main research objective of the study. A single-arm trial was conducted among 36 patients with rosacea and oral minocycline 50 mg twice daily for six weeks to assess efficacy and safety of oral minocycline. The genetic sequencing of skin lesions on the cheeks and nose was also performed at different times during oral minocycline treatment to investigate alterations in minocycline on the diversity, structure, and composition of skin microbiota. However the alterations in microbial metabolism and drug resistance were observed which might guide clinical antibiotic selection.
